Local Government Control

The founders of this country were very careful to craft a system of checks and balances between the States and the Federal government. It is not their shortcomings which have resulted in the current state of affairs, rather it is ours. We, as citizens, have become passive and allowed the federal government to overstep it's bounds.

Local governments must take more financial as well as legislative control. This is essential to manage costs as well as protect the rights of citizens.

Currently there are too many redundant or unnecessary bureaucratic positions in Sacramento draining funding from the areas that need it the most (i.e. the public school system, public safety, etc) resulting in poor quality, or complete lack of, services which they are supposedly trying to provide.

Local government must also take the reins in order to protect the citizens from potentially bad or even hazardous decisions, such as water fluoridation-or the complete lack of access to water for farming.

The federal government is doing the same thing with regulations and tax revenues. The state of California is loosing our ability to make our own decisions to the federal government. Proper exercise of the 10th amendment is the solution.
